WEEE Recycling

Introduced by the EU in 2002 and finally implemented by the UK in 2007, the aim is for all member states to recycle at least 85% of electrical and electronics waste equipment by the end of 2016.

The Directive puts a responsibility on the supplier of electrical / electronic equipment to ensure that consumers can return expired items for recycling.

For individuals this usually means delivering to a household waste recycling centre where they are collected and recycled. For commercial Organisations, we offer a safe and reliable Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) disposal service.

This is an increasingly important part of our business, especially when it comes to the safe disposal of IT equipment - much of which contains a mixture of hazardous waste such as gases, chemicals and batteries on motherboards as well as useful metals.

We can safely dispose of and recycle old IT equipment such as computers, VDUs, printers and CRT/LCD displays. We also recycle other electronic hardware such as TVs, tapes, floppy discs, CDs and DVDs, all in compliance with European Directives (WEEE) and UK legislation.

IT equipment recycling involves stripping down and separating the various material components in the equipment. The majority of IT equipment is currently collected, shredded and processed, with the ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals recovered and sent for recycling. This creates a value and future cost saving.
