The Summer for Recycling

Posted on

With the sun finally making an appearance, you may be in holiday mode but that doesn’t mean we should take a break from sustainability.

Here’s 5 quick tips for Recycling in the hot weather

Feed your stomach
It’s tradition in the UK to dust off the BBQ as soon as the sun pokes through the clouds. To reduce the £12 billion worth of food waste produced by the UK, only cook for the amount of people at the BBQ and freeze unused food ready for next time.

So many bottles
Sun cream, after sun and water bottles, Summer is the season for plastic.
Make sure you’re putting empties in the green box and not the black bin

Reuse your Shopping Bags
On the search for Summer clothes or food for a Summer salad?
Reduce waste by reusing your shopping bags instead of paying 5p for plastic bags.
If you leave the reusable bags in the boot of your car, you’ll never forget them.

Clothing clear-out
Out with the old and in with the new. Make way for your Summer wardrobe by clearing out and donating any old or unworn cloths.

Re-charge
Many of the devices we use run on batteries.
Use rechargeable wherever possible and don’t forget, regular batteries are recyclable.
